Every company has a beginning.
Ours started with a young couple, an old apartment, and a baby on the way.
Years ago, a newly married couple came to me with a simple request: design the interior of their apartment. Nothing more. It was an old flat in an older building, and their budget was modest. They weren't looking for renovation work, just a plan for the space they were about to call home.
So I designed it. Layouts, 3D drawings, every detail.
Then they asked for something I hadn't planned on. They wanted me to build it.
The timing was almost impossible. The baby was coming, and after the birth, mother and newborn would spend a month at a postpartum care centre, as many families in Taiwan do. When they left, they would be coming home as a family of three. Everything had to be ready in less than a month.
I said yes.
We worked around the clock. Every day, every night, pushing to finish before that family came home. Not because of the contract, but because I wanted them to walk into something they loved.
They never saw the apartment during the work. Not once.
The day they finally came home, they stood in the doorway holding their newborn baby. The tired old apartment they remembered was gone. In its place was the home they had only ever seen in 3D drawings: bright, warm, finished down to the last detail, with a room waiting for their child. Something they thought was out of reach on their budget was real, and it was ready for the very first day of their new life together.
And they cried.
That moment changed everything for me. I understood that this work isn't really about walls, materials or furniture. It's about the moment someone opens the door and sees their home for the first time.
That's why 3Designs exists.
after all these years, that moment is still my favourite part of the job.
